Abstract

Six biostratigraphic zones of local nature have been proposed in this section and correlated on regional as well as inter-continental scale. Possible palaeoecologic interpretations are briefly discussed with the help of recovered fossil fauna.

Abstract

An attempt has been made to discuss the palaeoecologic significance of the foraminiferal assemblage recorded from the Middle Eocene rocks exposed around the villages Vinjhan and Miani. The interpretation leads to the conclusion that the Middle Eocene rocks were deposited in inner-to mid-neritic environment characterized by warm water conditions.
